Derailed Train Injures 6 in Taiwan

A Taipei-Kaosiung train derailed in Miaoli Saturday morning, injuring six passengers due to landslides caused by the heavy rains, according to reports reaching here from Taipei.

The injured passengers have been rushed to a hospital nearby.

Taiwan railway authority has sent vehicles to take over 600 stranded passengers to the Miaoli train station for transferring them to other places.

The repairing of that part of the damaged railway is expected to be completed on Sunday.

In a related development, the Kaosiung International Airport had suspended operations three times Saturday morning, also because of the heavy rains. The operation of flights at the airport became normal at the noon.

And the Taiwan airport also suspended its operations in the morning.
