Shanghai Plans 1 Pass for Access to Museums

A museum pass that covers Shanghai's 60 museums will be available by year's end.

The citywide pass, arranged by the Shanghai Industrial Tourism Promotion Center, would provide pass holders access to 50 industrial museums in the city, as well as 10 other museums.

Industrial museums covered by the pass would include the Shanghai Printing and Publishing Museum, and the Shanghai Medicine Museum.

The center is hoping to include the Shanghai Museum and the Shanghai Nature History Museum. "Basically the pass will allow unlimited visits in a certain period to the 60 museums," said Zhao Liming, tourism center spokeswoman

For an adult visitor, the average admission fee to each industrial museum is 5 yuan (62 US cents). The ticket to the Shanghai Museum and the Shanghai Nature History Museum is 20 yuan and 35 yuan respectively. Thus normally it would cost more than 300 yuan to visit all the 60 museums. "The pass will be lower than 300 yuan," Zhao said.
