Civil Aviation Transportation Turnover up 16 pct in 2nd Quarter

Turnover in China's civil aviation transportation reached 7.25 billion ton-kilometers in the second quarter of the year, an increase of 16 percent over the same period last year, according to sources with the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC).

 

China's aviation industry carried 38.86 million passengers and 814,000 tons of cargo in the second quarter, up 15.6 percent and 11.4 percent respectively over the corresponding period of last year.

 

According to CAAC, domestic flights contributed 4.91 billion ton-kilometers and international flights 2.35 billion ton-kilometers.

 

China's aviation transportation enjoyed rapid growth in the second quarter of 2006, without any accident occurring, said a spokesman with CAAC.
