Two Trains Crash in North Cairo, with Casualties

A passenger train collided with a cargo train on Monday night in north Cairo, killing five people and injuring some 30 others, said a security source.

But Egypt's official MENA news agency reported that one person was killed and 18 others wounded in the crash.

Adli Hussein, governor of Qalyoubia Governorate where the accident occurred, told the Egyptian television that the injured were admitted to hospitals after sustaining injuries.

Hussein said it was too early to speculate about the cause of the crash, according to MENA.

The accident came two weeks after a major train crash on Aug. 21 in a small village, some 20 km north of Cairo, which killed at least 58 and injured 144 others.
