Brussels Tram Drivers Strike Against On-board Violence

Belgian tram drivers on Monday took unofficial industrial action in the capital of Brussels, resulting in the stoppage of ten of the 17 lines, VRT news reported.

The strike is against the growing incidence of violence on board Brussels' trams.

On Sunday, a driver was threatened with a revolver. On Saturday, a pram got stuck in a tram door and a passenger subsequently attacked the driver, said VRT news.

The local transport company management is in talks with the unions, while the strike still continues.
