Ice World in Beijing
Among the temple fairs held in Beijing during the Spring Festival, the one in Ditan Park is actually the grandest thanks to its various recreational items, huge area of fair sites and combination of modern culture and traditional styles.

The 2003 temple fair in Ditan Park will run from January 28 to February 15.

Like previous events, traditional activities such as imperial army parades, folk sports and sales of all kinds of goods will be on offer.

Ditan Park will also give up part of its space to a grand ice and snow sculpture show in its southeast corner. These exhibits will open a month earlier than the temple fair.

The ice sculptures will be on show in the park. Snow sculptures will be completed before Sunday.

All the sculptures have been produced by artists from Harbin in Heilongjiang Province, the home of ice sculpture.

They vary in shape. Some look like the Olympic torch, others resemble a courtyard while some resemble lanterns and famous ancient buildings like the Temple of Heaven and the Forbidden City.

How to get there: Bus or trolley bus routes 18, 104, 108, 358, 27, 113 arrive at the west gate of Ditan Park, and you can also get there by subway to the Yonghegong Station.

Location: Ditan Park, Dongcheng District.

Telephone for ice and snow show: 6427-3127
