Guangzhou Reaps Good Fortune from Sheep Year
South China's Guangzhou City, known as the "city of the goat", has experienced good fortune from the very start of China's lunar new year -- the year of the goat.

Statistics show that during the past week-long Spring Festival holiday, the capital of Guangdong Province received more than 6 million tourists from both home and abroad, reaping profits totaling 2 billion yuan (about 240 million US dollars).

The number of foreign tourists coming to experience the traditional celebrations of the lunar new year reached over 10,000, up nearly 11 percent over the previous year.

Parks and scenic spots of the city were kept busy throughout the week by more than 10 million visitors, up by more than 36 percent year-on-year.

Different new year celebrations organized by parks, such as a horticulture exposition, goat exhibition and flower show, were particular favorites of the visitors.
