Great Wall Museum Built in Liaoning
A museum on the Great Wall has been set up on the site of the easternmost section of this world-renowned architectural wonder.

The museum, the fourth of its kind, is located at Hushan in Dandong city in northeast China's Liaoning Province and mainly reflects the history of the Great Wall's defensive role.

Exhibits on display include ancient weapons, stoves used by guards and other relics unearthed from the original site of the Hushan stretch of the Great Wall.

The eastern end of the Great Wall had always been believed to start from Shanhaiguan in Hebei Province until the 1980s when archaeologists found the remains of a 600-meter long section at Hushan.

Construction of the museum started last year after the wall remains were repaired. Completed at a cost of nearly 1.2 million US dollars, the museum is now busy preparing to open to the public on May 1.
