Beyond the Eyes
Artist Xin Haizhou has been active in various modern art exhibitions home and abroad since 1989.

Xin's works have always been focused upon the psychological situation and physical reaction of individuals and groups in real life. He intends to reveal deep changes in the spiritual level of human beings by estranging human subjects from their environment.

Since 1998, Xin moved his focus onto the younger generation. His "Change" series produced since 1999 intensified his themes of loss and split personality by attention to youthful dilemmas.

The sick, decadent, meaningless, sentimental and doubtful with their affected facial expressions are directly displayed in his paintings. The result is an allegory on a social "youth syndrome" in need of self-treatment.

The artistic language breaks the boundaries of photography and achieves the truthful and hallucinatory effect of paintings.

The exhibition, entitled "Where the eyes can't reach", will showcase Xin's important works since 1999.
