First Overseas Tourist Group Since SARS Enters Beijing
The first overseas tourist group hosted by China International Travel Service (CITS) since Beijing was removed from WHO's list of SARS-infected regions and travel advisories arrived in Beijing Friday.

Thirty-three tourists from Australia and the United Kingdom will visit Tian'anmen Square, the Palace Museum, the Summer Palace and the Great Wall during their five-day stay in the capital. They will also have a tour around Beijing's old alleys and visit local residents' houses.

The tourists' arrival will enhance overseas understanding of China and speed up global tourism recovery, said Zhang Beiying, vice-president of CITS.

CITS is expecting to host 1,000 tourists from Japan, the United Kingdom, France and other countries in July.
