Xinjiang Steps Up Protection of Cultural Relics

The Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of northwest China has initiated a large-scale conservation project for historical relics.

Over US$4 million will be invested in the project.

Experts explain historical relics unearthed in the region have a rich cultural value, reflecting the unique character of that part of the Silk Road.

The major archaeological discoveries in Xinjiang have drawn both national and international attention.
