HK Airports, Checkpoints Operating Normally

Hong Kong airports and checkpoints are operating normally, but have maintained precautions against SARS after the confirmation of two SARS cases on the Chinese mainland.

The Hong Kong SAR government has announced it has activated its three-level emergency response system relating to SARS.

Hong Kong's Immigration Department also decided to add an additional 300 employees at different checkpoints to cope with the huge influx of visitors during the May Day holiday.

According to the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong, most people visiting the region who had planned a tour to Beijing continued their journey, with a small number of them canceling their visits.
