Environmentally-friendly Toilet to Debut in Hangzhou

An environmentally-friendly toilet that needs no water and drainage network will make debut in the West Lake scenic spot in Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang Province, later this month, sources said yesterday.

The high-tech toilet, each costing 180,000 yuan (US$21,765), shares the same principle as the biological degradation of organism in the nature, that is, excretion will be degraded after being sent into a container that contains biological material,

The energy produced by the degradation process will kill the virus and bacteria in the excretion, which will at last be turned into fine organic fertilizer.

Such environmentally-friendly toilet has already been put into use in a park in Tonglu County, Zhejiang Province.
