Harry Potter kills owls, some say 哈利风靡 猫头鹰遭殃 
Harry Potter books and films have been blamed for the dwindling number of wild owls in India, the Daily Telegraph reported. Indian Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh said the craze for Harry Potter in India has led to an increase in people buying owls from illegal bird traders. 据英国《每日电讯报》报道,《哈利•波特》系列书籍和电影被指责致印度野生猫头鹰锐减。印度环境部长拉梅什称,哈利•波特在印度的风靡和人们对它的狂热致使越来越多的人从黑市购买猫头鹰。
Medvedev to visit disputed islands 俄总统将再登争议岛屿
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will visit the Kuril Islands, which are at the center of a territorial dispute between Russia and Japan. Disclosing this on Nov. 2, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the Medvedev's trip is meant to bring investment to the region. He also denied Russia's intension to recall its ambassador in Japan, reported Xinhua News Agency. On Monday, Medvedev became the first Russian leader to set foot on Kuril, which angered the Japanese government. 据新华社报道,俄罗斯外交部长拉夫罗夫2日表示,俄总统梅德韦杰夫计划视察南千岛群岛(日本称北方四岛)其他岛屿,并计划加大对南千岛群岛的投资。拉夫罗夫同时表示,俄方目前没有召回驻日大使的计划。梅德韦杰夫1日登上南千岛群岛的国后岛。这是俄国家元首首次视察俄日争议岛屿,引发日方强烈不满。

Blind detect objects with implant 植入芯片让盲人看得见
A man with an inherited form of blindness has been able to identify letters and a clock face using a pioneering implant, the BBC reported. The chip was placed behind the retina. It allows patients to detect objects with their eyes, unlike a rival approach that uses an external camera.
