Mark Allen, the man who is facing disciplinary action for his disrespectful evaluation of Haikou, powered to a lop-sided 10-1 victory in Sunday's World Open final against Stephen Lee.
The outspoken world No.10 complained the Chinese were 'ignorant', and that the playing conditions were 'horrendous' in his tweet.
However, after picking up his first ranking title, the Northern Irishman admits he may change his mind about China.
"I think I've been playing well all week. I've had my critics this week. I might have to change my opinion of China now," said Allen. "It is my first ranking tournament win. I have good memories here."
Returning with his 8-1 advantage, Allen could have been forgiven a few nerves as he looked to close out his first rankings title. However, he instantly moved to 9-1 after Lee coughed up points when trying to escape a snooker, and then Allen closed out the match with his fourth century, completing a 104 for victory.
It was a sweet moment for Northern Ireland's Allen, who had lost five semi-finals and finished runner-up to Judd Trump in December's UK final.
