In spite of Arsenal's seven-year trophy drought after last winning the FA Cup in 2005, Arsene Wenger, aka "The Professor", is the richest manager in the Premier League with an annual income of €9 million, which includes a €4.7 million in salary. Nevertheless, Wenger, who signed with Arsenal in October 1996, is still the most successful coach in the club's history. His efforts in revolutionizing the state of English football during the late 1990s and leading his team to a total of 11 trophies during his reign, including three FA Premier League titles and four FA Cup trophies., have earned him that credit.

During the 2003-04 season, Wenger became the only manager in the FA Premier League's 115-year history to make it through the entire season undefeated after the 1888-89 season when Preston North End set the record. In August 2010, Wenger signed a new three-year deal to continue his managerial career at Arsenal until June 2014. He was named the World's Second Best Coach of the 21st Century by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).
