Livestreaming-commerce is a new term used to describe the combination of video livestreaming and online shopping. Sellers broadcast live on streaming commerce platforms to showcase their products, trying them on and describing them to people watching at home.

Over the past few years, sales via livestream have been steadily growing. In 2020, home quarantine measures due to the COVID-19 outbreak forced many people to shift their shopping habits online, contributing to a boom in internet-based purchases. Now, people from all walks of life — including farmers and even government officials — took to the web to sell products via livestream as a way to counter the economic fallout from COVID-19.
