# Building with Nature in Indonesia

The logging of mangrove trees has caused erosion, flooding and land loss in Indonesia. This initiative has built wave-dampening barriers with natural materials along the coast that trap sediment and create suitable conditions for mangroves to grow naturally. Mangroves provide a sanctuary for a diverse array of marine organisms.

Area of mangrove restored: 119 hectares

Number of mangrove species: 12

Area of sustainable aquaculture: 300 hectares
