Yunfeng Temple was originally built around this large cave, which is said to look like the Buddha holding his belly in his hands. A small spring and pool inside the cave, Five Dragon Pool, was likely a spot for folk religious practice before the spread of Buddhism in China. The pool is said to be the home of Mount Mian's Five Dragon Brothers, who are responsible for bringing rain to the region. Kongwang Buddha is said to have called upon the five dragons to end an extreme drought that nearly brought the fledgling Tang Empire to its knees, earning Mount Mian its widespread reputation as a place to pray for rain.
