Camping at Mount Huangshan

Tourists are allowed to camp in designated places across the North Sea, West Sea, Sky Sea and the Jade Screen scenic areas of Mount Huangshan as long as they follow the relevant rules.

Camping signs can be found up the mountain. Tourists need to get permission from relevant operators and pay a fee of up to 180 yuan before putting up their own tents.

Big tents for more than two people are not allowed on the premises.

The best camping site is the basketball court near the gate of the Beihai Hotel as it has flat concrete ground and is located near the Huangshan scenic area police station. This camping site is also near the Lion Peak and the Dawn Pavillion, two outstanding spots for watching the sunrise. Tourists could also use the restrooms of the Beihai Hotel and nearby Shilin Hotel.

Tourists can also camp on the grounds close to the Paiyunlou Hotel near the Cloud-Dispersing Pavilion, the Baiyun Hotel in the Sky Sea scenic area and the Bright Top.

Campers can ascend the mountain by cable cars.

Do remember to bring appropriate clothing because temperatures are much lower on the mountain than at the foot of the mountain.
