Mountain culture, as an important part of China’s traditional culture, is an endless source of spiritual strength for the Chinese and demonstrates such national values as achieving big things by remaining calm, showing lofty goals by living a simple life and improving oneself by self-cultivation. The six-episode HD documentary “Big Mount Huangshan” is the first of its kind to reveal China’s mountain culture to the public and displays the beauty of Mount Huangshan and the Hui culture in a panoramic way. The following route will enable tourists to experience the classic scenes of the documentary.

 Duration: Four days

Highlights: “Charm of Hui Culture” show, Monkey Valley, Mount Huangshan Scenic Area, Hongcun Ancient Village, Tunxi Ancient Street, Tangyue Memorial Archway Cluster, Garden of the Bao Family

D1: Arrive in Huangshan City and watch the best late night show in town: “The Charm of Hui Culture.”

D2: Take a bus to the Monkey Valley early in the morning and there you will have close contact with the short-tailed monkeys of Mount Huangshan featured in the documentary; then go on to tour the Mount Huangshan Scenic Area in the afternoon. You will be taking the Yungu Cableway to ascend the mountain and experience its endless wonderful sceneries, including the Shixin Peak and the oddly-shaped rock named “Monkey Watching the Sea of Clouds” in the North Sea Scenic Area.

D3: Watch the sun rise and continue touring Mount Huangshan after breakfast. You will be climbing the Bright Top, the Turtle Peak and the Lotus Peak. At the Jade Screen Scenic Area, you will see the national-treasure pine, the Guest-Greeting Pine, and have the chance to decipher the cliff inscriptions. After taking the Yuping Cableway to descend from the mountain, you will take a bus to the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site Hongcun Ancient Village, which is an excellent example of Hui-style architecture and ancient villages. Afterwards, take a bus back to downtown Huangshan City and stroll along the Tunxi Ancient Street at your own pace.

D4: Just sleep until you wake up natural. Go to visit the Tangyue Memorial Archway Cluster and the Garden of the Bao Family in the morning to experience the profoundness of the Hui culture, one of the three major regional cultures in China. Leave Huangshan in the afternoon.
