This portrait of Mozart was unknown for more than 200 years. And it is nineteen by fourteen inches in size.

It shows Mozart in profile wearing a red jacket that apparently corresponds to one described by the composer to his father in a letter written in 1782.

Experts believe that the oil painting was probably the work of Joseph Hickel, a painter at the Imperial Court of Austria.
