Unlike traditional Peking opera whose sets mainly consists of a table and two chairs, this production is a blockbuster.

The National Center for the Performing Arts and the Beijing Peking Opera Troupe have combined to create the production, which formed a strong crew, that includes the country's top performers, as well as a first rate team for stage and costume design.

Well-known Peking Opera performers Yu Kuizhi plays Zhuge Liang and Meng Guang Lu plays Cao Cao, while Li Hutong and Li Shengsu play general Zhou Yu and his beautiful wife Xiao Qiao. Yu says his version of Zhuge Liang is younger than those featured in previous Peking Opera.
