Chinese scientists recently completed the world's first plant genome chromosome atlas.

The project consists of 5 volumes. It maps the chromosomes of China's fruit trees, crop plants and their wild relatives, bamboo, garden plants and medicinal plants.

The map also boasts a collection of genetic information for nearly 4-thousand kinds of cash crops around China. It's hoped the map will be of great use for the study of the structure and function of chromosomes.
