Russian President Dmitry Medvedev says the country's financial situation is "absolutely stable".

He also stresses that the national currency will not be frozen, nor will there be any sharp devaluation in the rouble. He made the remarks during a TV interview program on Sunday.

Dmitry Medvedev, Russian President, said, "Our financial and economic situation is absolutely stable. We amended the budget. It's a complicated budget. It's a budget with a budget deficit. Nevertheless, using the money from the reserve fund now we will be able to cover all our spending, including social spending, this year and next year, and get through the most complicated period of the financial crisis."
