Israeli jets have bombed an area containing smuggling tunnels in the town of Rafah on the border between Gaza and Egypt.

The military claims the air strikes targeted a weapons smuggling tunnel in retaliation for two Palestinian rocket attacks on southern Israel. No injuries are reported.

Israel ended its military offensive in Gaza on January 18th, and the territory's Hamas rulers declared a cease-fire the same day.

But sporadic violence continues as Egypt tries to mediate a long-term truce.
