Int'l Country Music Week highlights Zhangjiajie
Adjust font size:

Zhangjiajie, in central China's Hunan Province, enjoys a worldwide reputation for beautiful scenery and distinctive geological parks. And now it's adding music to the list. The city is hosting the International Country Music Week, a perfect combination of music and natural landscapes.

The world of music came to Zhangjiajie last Thursday.

An interactive atmosphere, as artists mingled with the audience, for a hearty dose of excitement.

Artists from Africa dressed in traditional attire. They set the stage afire with their exuberance and occasional off-the-cuff harmonies.

Lucy Angel, a band from Tennessee in the US, the birthplace of country music, performed the classic "Country Roads, Take Me Home."

French vocalist Cyril Niccolai collaborated with Chinese singer A Do for the love song "The Moon Represents My Heart" in Chinese.

Artists from China's Inner Mongolia Folk Art Troupe took the stage at the Baofeng Lake, one of the six parallel venues. Their throat singing, a distinctive technique that employs the tongue, teeth, larynx, and palate, to achieve an overtone, met with enthusiastic response.
