After all the rumors, it's finally been confirmed! Manchester United have accepted a world-record transfer offer for Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid. Real president FLorentino Perez had pledged to bring big names to the club, and after signing Brazilian playmaker Kaka, his sights were set on the Portuguese star.

Manchester United finally decided to sell the star performer Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid, for 80 million pounds. Matters are expected to be concluded by 30 June.

The Portugal winger spent last June pushing for what he called at the time a "dream move" to Madrid. The midfielder said it was what he wanted, and said a transfer to the Spanish giants would complete his dream.

But all moves for a transfer were blocked by United manager Alex Ferguson.

Alex Ferguson, Man. United Manager, said, "...I wouldn't sell them a virus."

But the Red Devils hottest property had other plans. The 24 year old was under contract until 2012, but plunged his future into doubt again after United lost the Champions League final to Barcelona last month. When asked whether he would be at Old Trafford next season, Ronaldo said: "I don't know."
