Two of the flight recorders have been recovered from an Iranian airliner that crashed on Wednesday, killing 168 people. The Caspian Airliner went down on a flight from Tehran to Armenia.

The investigation into Iran's worst air disaster in 6 years is underway.

Iran's Press TV says the flight recorders contain vital clues to the crash, but were heavily damaged.

Experts are trying to retrieve data from them.

Investigators are still searching for the third recorder.

The Russian built passenger jet caught fire in mid-air and crashed shortly after departing Tehran.

The plane exploded on impact, scattered the bodies of 153 passengers and 15 crew.

Devastated relatives came to the site.

Most of those on board were Iranians, but there were also Armenian and Georgian citizens.

Officials say DNA testing will be used to identify the remains.

Eight members of Iran's national junior judo team and two coaches were among the dead.
