69th Anniversary of Japan's Surrender

On August 15, 2014, China's State Archives Administration (SAA) began releasing documents and videos showing Japan's aggression and defeat to China during the 1930s and 1940s. The 24-part video series, entitled "The Great Victory", is to mark the 69th anniversary of victory in both the national war against Japanese aggression and WWII.

Background

On August 15, 1945, Japanese Emperor announced Japanese unconditional surrender to the Allies on a recorded radio address. The war against Japanese aggression broke out in 1937 and ended on Aug. 15, 1945 with Japan's unconditional surrender, which also cemented total victory in WWII. More than 35 million Chinese people died or were wounded during the war.
