China and Belarus pledged Thursday to step up "substantial cooperation" between the two countries.

"China and Belarus have witnessed ever-emerging highlights in our substantial cooperation over the past years," said Vice Premier Hui Liangyu as he met with Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Tozik at the 12th session of the China-Belarus Trade and Economic Cooperation Committee in Beijing.

Hailing the development of bilateral ties since China and Belarus established diplomatic relations in 1992, Hui said that he hopes the two sides will carry out their existing cooperative projects in a stable way and innovate to benefit the peoples of the two nations.

Tozik echoed Hui's remarks, saying that Belarus attaches great importance to its relationship with China.

Belarus is willing to make joint efforts with China to actualize the potential for cooperation in trade and investment, he added.
