Afghan force and NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) troops have killed nine insurgents and detained six others in eastern Afghan region within 24 hours ended on Saturday, the ISAF forces said on Sunday.
"Afghan National Army soldiers and Coalition forces killed five insurgents in response to receiving small arms fire in Manogai District, eastern Kunar Province," ISAF's Regional Command-East ( RC-E) said in a press release.
Four other insurgents have been killed in two separate incidents in eastern Paktika province in the same period of time, it said.
Operations in RC-East are still ongoing, the release added.
Taliban insurgents fighting Afghan forces and some 130,000 ISAF troops have yet to make comments.
Afghan and NATO military officials said recently that impressive Taliban-led attacks would occur in the coming weeks and months as spring and summer, known as "fighting season", is drawing near.
