'White Deer Plain' to be adapted into TV series

It's been announced Chinese novel 'White Deer Plain' is going to be adapted into a TV series.

Actor Zhang Jiayi, a native of Shaanxi, is set to play the lead character, Bai Jiaxuan.
The book itself, written by Chen Zhongshi, follows the hardships of several generations living on the White Deer Plain in Shaanxi.
It also mirrors the changes which have taken place in the Chinese countryside for over the past half-century.
The new TV series co-directed by Liu Huining and Liu Jin.
Director Wang Quan'an made a film based on the novel in 2011.
