Editor's note: Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as "Moon Festival" (the time when the moon is at its fullest and brightest) or "Reunion Festival," is an old and traditional festival in China that dates back over a thousand years. The festival falls on Sept. 24 this year.

The origin of Mid-Autumn Festival

The Mid-Autumn Festival began in the early years of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), became popular in the Song Dynasty (960-1279), and turned to be one of the major Chinese festivals in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and Qing Dynasty (1636-1912). the Mid-Autumn Festival is also a traditional festival celebrated in some Asian countries.
