The festival was listed as the first batch of the national intangible cultural heritage by the Chinese State Council on May 20, 2006. The day has also been listed as an official national holiday since 2008. Together with the Spring Festival, the Dragon Boat Festival and the Qingming Festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival is one of China's four traditional festivals.
