德国速滑选手克劳迪娅·佩希施泰因是北京冬奥会上年龄最大的选手。她出生于1972年2月22日，还有几天就满50岁了，也是“老将”范可新的偶像。
German speed skater Claudia Perchstein is the oldest athlete at the Beijing Winter Olympics. She was born on Feb. 22, 1972, and will be 50 years old very soon. She is also the idol of Chinese veteran skater Fan Kexin.
佩希施泰因的职业生涯极为辉煌，1992年首次参加法国阿尔贝维尔冬奥会，至今已是第八次冬奥之旅。在漫长的冬奥生涯中，她一共赢得9枚奥运奖牌，其中包括5枚金牌。
Pechstein has a brilliant career. Her Winter Olympic debut was in Albertville 1992, and now it is her eighth Winter Olympic trip. In such a long Winter Olympic career, she won 9 Olympic medals, including 5 golds.
在北京冬奥会开幕式上，佩希施泰因毫无悬念地成为德国代表团旗手。而在她参加的速度滑冰女子3000米比赛中，她只排在第20名，是所有选手中最低的，而且她保持了20年的奥运会纪录，还在她亲眼见证下被荷兰选手打破了，但她并不难过。
Pechstein unsurprisingly carried the German flag at the opening ceremony. She participated in the women's 3000m speed skating race and ranked 20th. Meanwhile, she witnessed the Olympic record she held for 20 years was bettered by Dutch gold medalist Irene Schoutens, but she was not upset.
“我速度不是太快，但我很开心，因为今天我的目标实现了。我参加了我的第八届奥运会，这对我来说很重要。比赛的结果并不那么重要，能够拿到参赛资格来到冬奥赛场上我就非常自豪了”。
"I was not too fast, but I smiled because today I got my goal to race in my eighth Olympic Games. This was important for me. The result of today was not so important, it was just to race and to be here. I am super proud," Pechstein said.
冬奥会有严格的排名赛和资格赛，并不会因为她参加过7届，就能自动获得参赛资格。她能参加北京冬奥会，是在付出巨大努力、和晚辈们同场竞技后的结果，这本身就是一种奥运精神的体现。
Due to the strict ranking matches and qualifying competitions for the Winter Olympics, Claudia Perchstein's participation in the Games was by no means guaranteed just because she had taken part seven times before. Her hard work led her to Beijing after competing against generations of younger athletes. This is already a manifestation of the Olympic spirit.
佩希施泰因的坚持和对速滑运动发自内心的热爱，打动了许许多多的人。对她而言，来到北京就是胜利。
Pechstein's perseverance and heartfelt passion for speed skating have impressed many people. For her, coming to Beijing is already a victory.
