Parts of Henan Province's Zhengzhou-Luoyang Highway have been topped with a colorful layer of high tech materials as attention grabber and decelerator.

This is the first time that colored highway appeared in this central Province.

Dahe.cn reports that the colored coating is a mixture of resin glue and ceramic particles. The unique material can increase friction on road surface and won't be affected in rainy seasons.

The highway is colored in red, yellow and green. Red road is used to catch drivers' attention and it also has a decelerating effect. Green and yellow roads inform people of service zones nearby.

Colored roads were concentrated in important areas, like the entrances and exits of tunnels, downhill paths, and the dangerous sections.

Over 30,000 square meters on the highway were covered with colored coating and the highway will be put to use again by 6 PM Saturday.

It was the first large-scale renovation of the Zhengzhou-Luoyang highway in 12 years. Damaged roads were restored and facilities were added and construction workers said they wanted to make this highway a superb one.

If the colored roads are accepted by the public, the local government plans to promote it in the whole province.
