5 killed in fire in east China

Five people were killed in a fire in a residential area in east China's Zhejiang Province on Monday, an official said.

The fire broke out at 1:25 a.m. in Sitan Village, Rui'an city, in a three-room residential building. The fire was extinguished within an hour, said the official with the city government.

Details of casualties and the fire are not yet available.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire, the official added.
