Sino-Japan Movie to Open Tokyo Film Festival
Adjust font size:

Cross Over, a co-production by Chinese and Japanese film makers, will open the 20th Tokyo International Film Festival in October, organisers said on Monday at the festival's first press conference.

The film is directed by Chinese director Jin Chen and stars Japanese actor Kiichi Nakai and Chinese actress Miao Pu.

Based on a true story, the epic concerns the trials of a couple and their three-decade relationship in the early 19th century in China.

Meanwhile, a special exhibition will be held in memory of Cannes-winning Taiwan director Edward Yang, or Yang Dechang, who died in late June.

The nine-day festival runs from October 20-28.
