Chinese veteran actress Liu Xiaoqing says she will perform in the song and dance drama The Last Night of Taipan Chin in Taiwan next January. Liu spoke at a press meeting in Beijing on Monday.

China News Service reports that Liu is very excited to perform in Taiwan. She feels her similar complex experience helps her better understand the character of Taipan Chin, a captain of taxi dancers.

The drama is adapted from a novel by Taiwan famous literature giant Pai Hsien-yong. The tale is based on the love stories and sad fate of Taipan Chin and four other beauties of Shanghai in the 1940s through the 1960s.

Pai Hsien-yong also attended the press meeting. He agreed that Liu is a suitable choice to play the powerful character of Taipan Chin.
