Chinese and Pakistani senior officials agreed to further cooperation and exchanges among media to help improve understanding between the two countries.

Liu Yunshan, member of the Political Bureau and secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, made the announcement in Beijing after a meeting with Pakistan's Information and Broadcasting Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad.

Liu Yunshan says cooperation between the media organizations of the two countries will undoubtedly improve mutual understanding between the two peoples and push forward the all-round cooperative relations between China and Pakistan.

Ahmad says he hopes the agreement will further improve bilateral cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of electronic media and movie production.

Ahmad was in China at the invitation of the Information Office of China's State Council.
