The world famous Swiss Basel Ballet Troupe will give the Chinese audiences two performances of a mordern version of Romeo and Juliet--ballet: West Side Story.

West Side Story is a famous Broadway musical，written by Leonard Bernstein, and the movie of the same name produced in the 1960s greatly influenced a whole generation of the American young people. In Basel's performance, the two "young gangs" act out fights through dance sequences on stage and tells the tale of star crossed lovers.

The play is to be staged at Tianqiao Theatre in southern Beijing on Oct 2 and 3.
