Senior legislator meets UNESCAP executive secretary

Gu Xiulian, vice-chairwoman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC) and president of the All-China Women's Federation, met in Beijing on Monday with Noeleen Heyzer, executive secretary of United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).

The two sides exchanged views on women issues and cooperation in Asia and the Pacific region.

Heyzer was on a visit to China from January 17 to 23 at the invitation of the Chinese government. This was her first visit to China as the UNESCAP executive secretary.
