Train, Truck Collision Causes Derailment in Liaoning

Eight compartments of a passenger train derailed Tuesday night in northeast China's Liaoning Province, but no casualty was reported, the local railway authorities confirmed Wednesday.

Passenger train 2061, running from Dalian City to Jagdaqi in Heilongjiang Province, hit a truck at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on a feeder railroad connecting Siping City in neighboring Jilin Province with Qiqihar City.

The truck had sped up in order to pass the railway ahead of the train.

Traffic on the feeder railroad resumed Wednesday morning.
