China Fashion Week Opens in Beijing

A stunning collection of colorful outfits has opened China Fashion Week in Beijing. Both China's local culture and international fashion trends are the focus of the weeklong fashion event.

International designs, innovation and local culture are the themes of China Fashion Week.

Local culture is seen as especially important in building up the event's reputation.

The runway is elaborately decorated with traditional Chinese colors and patterns. These complement the designs that will set next spring and summer's fashion trends.

This week will see 30 fashion shows, and a fashion contest will offer young Chinese designers the chance to be recognized. International fashion designers from France, Japan and Singapore will also bring their latest collections to Beijing's runways.
