Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, one of the top ten auto makers in China, is based in Hangzhou, capital city of Zhejiang Province. Founded in 1986 as a refrigerator-maker, Geely started manufacturing motorcycles in 1994, and began to make automobiles in 2001. Apart from auto manufacturing and sales, the company is also involved in the research, production and sales of auto parts including transmissions, engines and other components. Presently, its automobiles are sold to more than 40 countries and regions. So far, the company's total assets have exceeded 100 billion yuan, or US$ 15.9 billion (including Volvo Cars Corporation). In 2011, Geely sold a total of 432,000 vehicles, and reported 151 billion yuan (US$24 billion) in revenue. In 2012, Geely ranked 71st among the top 500 Chinese companies, and 475th among Fortune's Global 500.
