No. 3: Shenzhen

Shenzhen’s GDP from January to September amounted to 1.98 trillion yuan, increasing by 2.6% over the same period last year. During this year’s BRICS Forum on Future Networks Innovation, Shenzhen Mayor introduced that the added value of the city’s electronic information industry grew by 3.4% in the first nine months of 2020, accounting for about one-fifth of its GDP. Shenzhen has also taken the lead globally in building 5G-powered industrial ecology as it has achieved full coverage of 5G independent networking.

Looking ahead, the city will step up efforts to build a comprehensive national science center to play a bigger part in the fourth industrial revolution.
