"Jack Reacher" is a new thriller starring Tom Cruise, and was adapted from Lee Child's 2005 novel "One Shot."
The story tells of how a gunman takes five lives with six shots. When all evidence points to the suspect being held in custody, this suspect offers up one single message during interrogation: "Get Jack Reacher!" So begins an extraordinary chase for the truth, pitting ex-military investigator Jack Reacher against an unexpected enemy, with a skill for violence and a secret to keep.
As a very popular Hollywood star in China, Tom Cruise's last film released in China was "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" by Brad Bird, which was screened during the Spring Festival of 2012 and raked in 679 million yuan (US$108.9 million), making it a huge success. Hoping to capitalize on the box office success of Cruise's ""Mission: Impossible," Chinese film importers and theater bosses will pray that Cruise's appeal in "Jack Reacher" will attract Chinese audiences once again. The film has already grossed US$183.66 million in other countries worldwide, but received mixed reviews.
