Chinese writer Jiang Rong, author of the best-selling fiction "Wolf Totem," was awarded the Bichgiin Mergen Prize (Genius Writer Prize) by the World Mongol Authors Association in the Mongolian capital of Ulan Bator on Aug. 3, 2015.

He is the first Chinese writer to win the association's highest award.

Earlier in 2007, Jiang also won the inaugural Man Asian Literary Prize for the same novel. By telling the tale of nomads and settlers and their relation with wolves on the desolate grasslands of Inner Mongolia during the Cultural Revolution, this novel tries to explore man's place in nature.
