Su Tong is the pen name of Chinese writer Tong Zhonggui (童忠贵). He was awarded the Man Asian Literary Prize 2009 for his work "The Boat to Redemption," becoming the second Chinese writer to win the prize.

His other major works include "Binu and the Great Wall of China," "Madwoman on the Bridge," "My Life as Emperor," "Rice," and "Raise the Red Lantern: Three Novellas."
